CANSkate Winter 2021 (for ages 6 – 12)
We are pleased to be able to offer our Canskate (learn to skate program) for skaters who are between 6 and 12 years old for the winter session. The classes are 45 minutes long and will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday at the Canada Games Centre. We will have special entry and exit measures in place which will be communicated to you prior to the start of the program.
Due to ice capacity restrictions, we have set a deadline of December 15, 2020 to register for this program.
All Skate Canada CANSkate skaters must provide and wear a CSA approved hockey helmet on the ice. Bicycle helmets are not permitted.
Unfortunately, due to COVID 19 restrictions, we will not be able to offer a CanSkate tots program in January. We are hoping to offer one in February or March. We will send out notifications about a tots program as soon as we have more information and approval to run this program.

CANSkate PROGRAM CAPACITY
Program and sessions are subject to a minimum number of registrants. Arctic Edge Skating Club reserves the right to change programming if there is insufficient enrolment. This year, sessions will also be subject to a maximum number of registrants due to COVID-19 restrictions. Please register on or before the deadline. If registration is full, please add your name to the waitlist. We may be able to increase capacity or offer a space to your skater after the registration close date or after the program commences.
SKATE CANADA FEE
All skaters must be registered with Skate Canada and pay an annual membership fee. This fee covers a full year of skating from September 2020 – August 2021. The Skate Canada and administration fee is $44 and is non-refundable. It is added to the session fees in the registration system if they have not already been paid in the fall. For returning skaters, please make sure you use your current user name and password to log into our registration system to avoid paying the Skate Canada Fee a second time this year.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS due to COVID-19
Please note, if you are a new skater for the 2020-2021 skating season, a mandatory Skate Canada waiver provided in a separate document and on our website must be signed by both the parent/legal guardian and skater and submitted prior to the first day of skating. You must submit the completed form PRIOR TO YOUR CHILD stepping on the ice.
Our preference is for you to submit the form in advance of your arrival by scanning a signed copy and emailing it to email@example.com or dropping it off our mailbox at the Canada Games Centre. If you are not able to scan and email the waiver, we will have someone available on the first day to collect the form.
Face masks are now mandatory at the Canada Games Centre while in the concourse, spectating and change room areas. In addition to wearing masks, parents and skaters are expected to continue observing physical distancing in areas such as hallways, change rooms, and washrooms.
Refunds will be available should we be unable to provide programming due to imposed COVID 19 measures or reduced ice availability that prevents delivery of our planned programs.
