Winter registration for our popular Learn to Skate programs, CanSkate and CanSkateTots, will be available on Saturday November 16, 2024 at 8:00 am. These programs are a great opportunity for young children and youth to learn the fundamental skills of skating. To register, please click on the following link: https://arcticedge.uplifterinc.com/.
CanSkate classes are 45 minutes long and ideal for skaters ages 5 to 12 years old. Skaters who are 4 years old and can move on the ice are also welcome to join the CanSkate program. Skaters can register for 1, 2 or 3 classes per week. For optimal progress, 2 classes per week is recommended. The classes are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15-7:00pm and Saturdays from 10:45-11:30am.
CanSkate Tots classes are 30 minutes long and are designed for skaters who are 5 years old or younger and have not previously skated. The classes are offered on Wednesdays from 3:15-3:45pm and Saturdays from 10:00-10:30am.
NEW Parent/Guardian on the ice option for Wednesday Tots: During Wednesday classes, a parent/guardian may also join the class to support their child. This is optional. As a parent on the ice, all you pay is the Skate Canada membership fee for yourself. The child pays the program fee. If the child is new to the club, they pay the Skate Canada membership fee as well. Returning skaters from the fall session do not pay the Skate Canada membership again. If you are signing up as a parent/guardian support skater, you must have some basic skating skills (skate forwards, backwards and stop) as well as be able to hold/assist your child while on the ice. Both the parent and child must wear a CSA approved Hockey Helmet.
If you would like to join your child on the ice on Wednesdays, click on both program lines in our registration system:
– 2025 – Winter CanSkate Tots – Wednesday (Child)
– 2025 – Winter CanSkate Tots – Wednesday (Parent or Guardian).
All classes are held at the Canada Games Centre. See the section below for start/end dates, known cancellation days and fees.
For both the CanSkate and CanSkate Tots program: All skaters must provide their own skates and a CSA approved hockey helmet. Bicycle and skiing/snowboarding helmets are not permitted.
Program and sessions are subject to a minimum number of registrants. Arctic Edge Skating Club reserves the right to change programming if there is insufficient enrollment.
