The Arctic Edge Skating Club is excited to welcome families back for another season of our popular Skate Canada Learn to Skate programs. Whether your child is stepping onto the ice for the very first time or continuing to build confidence and skills, CanSkate and CanSkate Tots offer a fun and nationally recognized pathway into skating.

About Our Programs
CanSkate (Ages 5–12)
CanSkate is Skate Canada’s flagship learn‑to‑skate program, designed to teach the fundamental skills needed for all ice sports. Skaters progress through skill‑based levels using circuits, challenges, and upbeat music that keep learning fun and engaging.
- Class length: 45 minutes
- Ages: 5–12
- Four‑year‑olds who can stand and take steps on the ice with skates on are welcome
- Weekly options: Register for 1 to 3 classes per week
- Best progress: We recommend 2 classes per week
CanSkate Tots (Ages 5 and under)
Created especially for our youngest skaters, CanSkate Tots blends gentle on‑ice instruction with age‑appropriate music, movement games, and playful activities designed just for early learners. This program introduces skating in a way that feels safe, imaginative, and developmentally tailored for little ones who are brand new to the ice.
- Class length: 30 minutes
- Ages: 5 and under
- Experience: Designed for skaters with no previous skating experience
- Program style: Music‑based activities, simple skill circuits, and fun games geared specifically for younger children
All programs take place at the Canada Games Centre.
Equipment Requirements
Safety is our top priority.
- Skaters must bring their own skates
- A CSA‑approved hockey helmet is required and must be worn on the ice. The helmet must not be expired or have been in a major crash. Expiry dates are shown on the helmet.
- Bicycle, ski, and snowboard helmets are not permitted.

Skate Canada Membership
All skaters must hold a valid Skate Canada membership.
- Annual fee: $65
- Coverage: September 2026 – August 2027
- Non‑refundable This fee is added automatically at checkout.
Registration Deadline: September 11, 2026
Spaces are offered on a first‑come, first‑served basis. If a program is full, please add your skater to the waitlist — additional spaces may open after registration closes or once the season begins.
